March 26,2014 My thoughts for today.
When I started to learn the art of painting I thought that I could find a useful way to have the lesson canvas's serve as a fun raiser for those in need. I am familiar with the Peninsula Volunteers work at Little House (a facility that caters to senior citizens). One of the services they provide are the Meals on Wheels program that delivers meals to seniors. I thought that I could have an open-house to display some of the better canvas's (giving me the ability to find a way to provide some affordable art) and to keep painting. Whatever donation was given for a painting, the entire proceeds, would go to provide a alternative funding source. I was told that a meal costs were approximately $7.00 and a painting that went for $21.00 would provide three meals. The painting were various in sizes including 9 x 12, 24 x 48 and 24 x 30 etc.
I tried to co-ordinate this activity with Little House and offered to host a showing by providing refreshments, and appetizers. The only thing I asked was to be able to display the canvas's. I found out that the management has to go through and art committee to get an approval. I also found out that to display any art at Little House you have to be registered with a known art group. As an amateur just starting the process of enjoying the experience of painting, I know, I do not qualify. So the dilemma continues. I am trying to think of an alternate way to give away the art shown on this blog that can provide some needed funds to a deserving source.
